41 YEARS · SEATTLE 1985 — 2026

A family of wind and water sports enthusiasts in Seattle.

Urban Surf was founded in 1985 by Robin Oogard, driven by a passion for water sports and a commitment to sharing that passion with the world. Serving Seattle's thriving surf, skate, SUP, foil, kite, and wing communities, our crew is highly experienced and deeply passionate about helping others pursue their love for watersports. From humble beginnings to becoming a cornerstone of the Pacific Northwest’s watersports community, Urban Surf remains dedicated to connecting people with the water, fostering adventure, and promoting environmental stewardship.

We cover most things wind and water related and offer a variety of lessons: typically at Jetty Island and Magnuson Park, for people touching a kite for the first time and for riders chasing their first foil laps.

Come stand next to the gear before you buy it or ask us about our favorite light wind setup for Lake Washington. That's the part you can't get from an online shopping cart.

Matt

Owner

Matt has been part of the Urban Surf family for over 15 years and is thrilled to continue sharing the stoke as the shop's owner. Growing up a kiter in West Seattle, he was immersed in watersports from a young age, with his father raising him in the shop and on the water. From the moment he could, Matt begged the founder, Robin, for a job — a dream he achieved when he got his driver's license at 16.
